My Yoga Journey
My journey to yoga began about seven years ago when a dear friend introduced me to the idea of a yoga class. I had always been intimidated by the thought of ‘yoga’, but I put my fears aside to try this ancient practice. I immediately feel in love, but not for the reasons I thought I would … not because it was a great work out or it made me stronger, but because it opened my mind to a thoughtfulness and compassion I didn’t know existed for me. Of course I enjoyed the ‘work’ of yoga on the body, but what I could never fully understand was the ‘work’ of yoga on my mind. I honestly feel that I am a better person because of Yoga. I look forward to every day I can explore and build my practice …. for both mind and body.

Allyn’s Teaching Philosophy
As a yoga teacher in Downtown Denver, Colorado I feel blessed and honored to share my love and passion of yoga with others.
My journey and discovery of yoga started about seven years ago when a dear friend introduced me to the idea of a yoga class. Of course I had heard of yoga, but was insanely intimated by the thought of going to a class. Yoga to me was perfect people doing perfect yoga poses in the perfect way and I felt like I didn’t ‘fit the mold’. Yoga seemed complicated, hard and ‘perfect’, but was I ever wrong!
My first few classes were exciting, yes challenging, but invigorating. I found myself looking forward to the next class, to learn a little more, and challenge myself a little further. Every yoga class became less and less intimidating as I slowly started to realized that this was my practice, my experience, my journey. I had come to the realization that with yoga it is your own practice and experience. I had been so worried and focused on what other people ‘were thinking’ or others ‘expectations’ that I wasn’t letting myself focus on what was most important … My Practice ~
See the beauty of yoga is that your practice is yours and yours alone. Yoga does not judge, it does not place expectation on you, it does not want you to be something you are not. Yoga is a union, a binding of mind, body and soul.
As I slowly let the intimidation of others thoughts and expectations float away I was able to connect with myself and a practice that was deeply humbling, compassionate, and powerful. I truly believe that I am a more thoughtful, understanding, patient and compassionate person due to yoga.
I want to share the joy of an ancient and inspired wisdom and practice to others. To help them find their own thoughtfulness, understanding of others and the world around them, patients and compassion to all living beings.
